KEDIRI TOURISM

1. Mount of Kelud

Kediri as one of East Java regency has known by many people and tourists, because it has many interesting tourism objects. Kediri is interesting regency that able to invite both domestics and foreign tourists to visit its beautiful tourism objects. This area is surrounded by mountain and has a lot of nature scenery, so that it makes its air cold and fresh. This regency also save historical value and common said has the old kingdom in Java Island. The nature lovers are common visit this regency, because Kediri has the famous mount that is Mount Kelud. This is volcano mount, but its charming scenery has attracts the tourists to visit this mount. It has the channel to the crater, sulfuric lake, cool plantation, etc. Beside Mount Kelud, the other Kediri’s nature scenery is Irrenggolo and Dolo Waterfall that also give the pine forest scenery. There are also the historical tourism objects such as; Surowono Temple, Tegowangi Temple, and the famous Sri Aji Joyoboyo Graveyard. Those are the original building of Kediri culture since years ago. The other interesting places in Kediri are Ubalan Park and Bendungan Gerak (move dam). The government of Kediri regency always tries to develop Kediri tourism in order to known by a lot of people and add the income. Kediri has improved its tourism facilities to make the tourists as comfortable as well.

2,IRENGGOLO WATERFALL

This waterfall is located about 20 km, 30 minutes from Kediri City. The fabulous mountainous scenery of Besuki-irenggolo has is ready to see. Besides, here the tourists can find some interesting things, such as; shady natural pine forest, playground, camping ground, hiking and jogging area, etc.

Enjoy its fresh and cold airs in this waterfall that will bring you feel comfortable to breath. There are many trees that add its greenness and beautiful scenery for your eyes.

3.DOLO WATERFALL

Dolo waterfall reside is in 1200 m height above sea level. It is about 20 km, 30 minutes from Kediri City. This is one of Kediri tourism objects that have interesting scenery. The air is fresh and it can be enjoyed with family, because the water also very clear and clean. The visitors can bring some foods to enjoy the scenery below with the family. Try to visit Dolo waterfall and find the peaceful situation.This tourism area is equipped with some tourism facilities, such as; playground, camping ground, area for jogging, cross-country, hiking, etc. This natural scenery is mountainous, so that it will give you fresh and cold air. Enjoy and feel its natural scenery in here, hence you will get something unforgettable.

4. SUROWONO TEMPLE

Surowono Temple is place of hallowing of King Wengker that is one of the Kings subordinate during King Hayam Wuruk government from Majapahit Empire. It is rectangular of 8 x 8 meters size and built in 1400 AD. The fascination of Surowono temple tourism object is the building result as the masterpiece history of omission of past and underground tunnel; the cutting building that flown in clear water of branching way. It is located quite a lot branch about 100 meters from temple building. Surowono Temple, located in Canggu village, Pare district, about 25 Direction km Northeast from Kediri 5.TEGOWANGI TEMPLE
Tegowangi temple is one of ancient temple in Kediri region. This temple has saved many stories about Kediri history. There are some reliefs on the temple wall that interest the tourists who like the historic tourism. The temple is stand in one complex and it looks like a rectangular form.

6.SUMBER UBALAN KALASAN

This tourism object is 18 km from city of Kediri to the east, and located at Kalasan, Jarak village, Plosoklaten sub-district. Sumber Ubalan Kalasan recreation area is a natural swimming pool, which is believed as sacred place. People who live in surrounding areas of this object treat it as a Blessing Place, which will bring a good life for someone, to make life longer and to make things easier for those who are looking for a spouse. Ubalan area is a recreational place, which covers the area of 12 hectares including the camping arena.

7.WATER PARK OF BENDUNG GERAK

It is 150 meters in length dam, used to control the water debris of Brantas River. Situated about 5 km and about 10 minutes from Kediri City, the park offers:
- Motor boating and water
- Cycling Fishing pool and swimming pool Driving range
- Golf course
- Comfortable playground water park
- Stage for entertainment performance

The visitor can enjoy their holiday by visit this tourism area. They can fishing or enjoy the fresh air and soft wind. Bring your family to Bendung Gerak to have an interesting recreation.

8. SRI AJI JOYOBOYO SITE

This is site tourism of disappeared Sri Aji Joyoboyo. The location is in Menang village, Pagu district about 8 kilometers from northern of Kediri regency. In the term of Javanese it is well known as a place of Mukso Sri Aji Joyoboyo. Mukso means: (Hindu’s belief: gone soul along with body to paradise) and Sri Aji Joyoboyo is a great man of letter in East Java. In Java Island he is well known with his Jongko Joyoboyo forecast, it is containing about forecast of cases in the future.

Every New Year of Java calendar (1 Suro) there is a ritual ceremony held. This ceremony is initiated by the big family of Hondodento collaborated with local government of Kediri regency and society around this area. In this location can be found out many historical sites such as;
- The place where Sri Aji Joyoboyo disappeared
- Water source of Kamandanu.
- Meditation place of Mpu Baradah.
- Totok Kerot statue.
